My Advisor Called Our Website “Ghetto.” So I Vibe-Coded a New One With AI.
An advisor told me our website looked “ghetto.”
He was right.
So this summer I rebuilt teamignite.vc from scratch, and I didn’t hire a design agency or a team of developers. I built it by talking to AI.
No mockups. No tickets. Just conversation: “these logos don’t work on black,” “match the old team photo framing,” “build a contact form that emails us.” Review, react, repeat, for about a week and roughly 40 hours to get to launch.
What came out the other side: a real production site on Next.js and Vercel, with a live portfolio, our Volume Thesis simulator, working forms wired into our actual systems, and a jobs board that crawls our portfolio company’s careers page every night and posts open roles automatically. Zero manual upkeep saving us tens of thousands of dollars.
The part that surprised me most wasn’t the speed. It was how much taste and judgment still mattered. AI can build almost anything you describe. It can’t tell you whether the tone is too promotional for a regulated LP audience, or whether a logo that’s technically fine just looks wrong on a black background. That’s still the job.
Full writeup on how it came together (and what “vibe coding” actually looks like in practice) here: https://www.teamignite.vc/blog/my-advisor-called-our-website-ghetto-so-i-vibe-coded-a-new-one-with-ai
Take a look at teamignite.vc, and if something still looks ghetto, be gentle.
